The combative southpaw opener needed only five runs to surpass Marlon Samuels. Gayle now has 1622 runs for the Windies in 57 T20I matches. On the other hand, Samuels has amassed 1611 runs in 67 matches.
Dwayne Bravo is the third highest run-scorer for the Windies as the stylish southpaw batsman has scored 1142 runs in 66 matches. Lendl Simmons is fourth on the list as he has scored as he scored 907 runs in 45 matches.

Gayle has been in fine form as he had scored 424 runs in the five-match ODI series against England. He had scored his runs at an average of 106 and strike rate of 137 and smashed 39 sixes in the bilateral series.
