England cricketer Jonny Bairstow was a big name doing the rounds ahead of the 2019 IPL auction. England’s wicket-keeper batsman has been in a rich vein of form in this year at the international circuit. He was tipped to be in a side that is looking for stability at the top. And hence, it was the orange brigade that roped him in.

SunRisers Hyderabad picked Bairstow for INR 2.2 crore. The side looks strong at the top as David Warner is set to return in the mix. Hyderabad will miss the service of Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan, who will play for his home team Delhi Daredevils this year. Hyderabad will have Kane Williamson in the top order as well. Under the Kiwi skipper. the side reached the finals last year. They were beaten convincingly by an in-form Chennai Super Kings unit. It was Shane Watson who smashed a quick-fire ton to guide his side home.

Battling injuries

Bairstow made a successful return to international cricket after a eight-week injury lay off last month. He scored a hundred to seal his berth in the Test side. A total of 351 players went down the hammer. Not many English cricketers have lit up the IPL and this will be an opportunity for the in-form batter to make history. Let’s take a look at how SunRisers were set up ahead of the IPL auction.
