So the World Cup is not the end of road for Chris Gayle as far as international cricket is concerned. Before the start of the tournament, Chris Gayle had said that he would bow out of ODIs after the conclusion of the ongoing World Cup. And with his place in the Test team already lost, it looked certain he would not play any more in the longest format of the game.

However, the legendary batsman seemed to have changed his mind and has announced that he would play in the home series against India, starting right after the World Cup. The southpaw said that he would play in the Test series as well as the ODIs but would skip the T20Is. The upcoming series against India might be Chris Gayle’s last as he looks more than unlikely to continue for long in international arena.

“I’ll maybe play a Test match against India and then I’ll definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after the World Cup,” said Chris Gayle on the eve of the World Cup encounter against India.

Chris Gayle, who has played 103 Tests for West Indies, has not donned the whites since 2014. The Test series against India might give him an opportunity to bring curtains on his career on a high. In 103 games, he has scored 7214 runs with 15 hundreds.

Chris Gayle, who has also led West Indies in the past, is the second highest run-scorer for them in ODIs . He also helped them win two World T20 titles and the Champions Trophy in 2004. Gayle is also the first man to hit 200 in a World Cup game and the only batsman to smack a triple century in Tests, a double-century in ODs as well as centuries in T20Is.
