Windies southpaw, Chris Gayle wrapped up his domestic List A career after smashing 122 runs against Barbados Pride in a Regional Super50 game. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle had earlier announced that it would be his last List A game for Jamaica. He is hoping to get a similar four-day farewell before finishing up with Jamaica altogether.

However, Chris Gayle was given a guard of honor by both his team-mates and opponents as he walked out to bat at Bridgetown. He smashed ten fours and eight sixes in his 27th List A century in the 356 appearances.

Gayle finishes off in style.

“It’s very pleasing to get a hundred in my last 50-over game for Jamaica, it’s something I will always cherish. To lead the team to a win makes it more special,” said Gayle after scoring a hundred..

Chris Gayle is overwhelmed for getting an opportunity to represent Jamaica. Speaking about his age, he is also happy to hit a century at the age of 39. Jamaica folded for 226 in 47.4 overs, but they put in an excellent bowling performance. Gayle picked up 1/31 from the full quota to shoot Barbados out for 193.

“It’s been a pleasure representing my country (Jamaica), more so captaining them. I’m thankful and grateful to be standing here aged 39 and still get a century in my last game for Jamaica,” he added.

Chris Gayle is still a demanding player in the T20 format. However, he is hoping to continue doing his bit in the foreseeable future. He also wants to spend some quality time with his family and he also wants to gel up with his growing kid.

“There’s a lot in the tank to be honest,” he said. “But there’s life after cricket, so have to enjoy life as well. Playing cricket for over 25 years has been a great achievement from a personal point of view, but I have a family now. I have to gel with them as much as possible and watch your kid grow.”

Gayle will be in contention to play for the Windies in the upcoming World Cup 2019.
