Kings XI Punjab recorded their second victory of IPL 2020 on the back of half-centuries of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle as they blew away Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah. While KL Rahul remained unbeaten, the highlight was arguably Gayle’s half-century, who played the first match of IPL 2020. The Jamaican has also underlined the reason behind pointing a sticker to the bat that read ‘The Boss’.
Chris Gayle’s exclusion from Kings XI Punjab’s playing eleven came under scrutiny; however, with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal as the opening pair, it was challenging to slot him. However, KXIP suffering six losses before the victory against RCB meant that they had to try something different to turn their fortunes around. Gayle batted at number three, in a vastly unfamiliar position and did the job for Punjab after struggling slightly.
