The World T20 Boss, Chris Gayle, who pulled himself out for the series against India is eyeing to prepare for the ICC T20I World Cup 2020. Meanwhile, he also confirmed his availability for the upcoming England series as well. Recently, Chris Gayle received the flak for opting franchise cricket ahead of playing for the nation. However, the southpaw added he is eyeing to prepare for the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2020 through franchise cricket.

Scoring runs in franchise cricket is important – Chris Gayle

He also cited the importance of playing in franchise cricket as well. Gayle believes scoring in the franchise cricket will keep him up for the challenges when he dons Windies Jersey in ICC T20I World Cup 2020.

“I am definitely available for selection against England. At this moment, scoring runs in these leagues [franchise cricket] is important as everything can be seen as being geared up towards the World Cup,” International Cricket Council (ICC) quoted Gayle, as saying.

“I’ve merely got to manage my time, my schedule and my body to ensure that I am in top shape. After this [APL], there is a lot of cricket to come. We have the T10 cricket and after that, we have so much more cricket by the time of the World Cup. I feel that at this juncture, it is all about clicking at the right time and having fun playing,” he added.

However, it is surprising to see Chris Gayle giving importance to the T20I World Cup 2020 rather than eyeing at the upcoming 50-over World Cup 2019. All in all, at the end of the day, it is his own decision going forward.
