Team India head coach Ravi Shastri had to appear before the Committee of Administrators (CoA). The reason for the discussion was the performance of India during the tour of England. They lost the Test series by a 4-1 margin and Ravi Shastri had to address the same with CoA. It was confirmed in a report by Mumbai Mirror.
As per reports, it was learned Ravi Shastri and some of the other senior members in the team management had been summoned for a review. However, there was no such confirmation about the meeting schedule. Despite competing very hard, India lost the ODI as well as the Test series. However, Ravi Shastri stated that the scoreline didn’t reflect the performance of their squad throughout the tour.
Ravi Shastri strongly defended Virat Kohli and Co.
Shastri strongly defended Virat Kohli and Co. He spoke the same words which he said after the ODI and Test series losses. He felt the scoreline was not a true indicator of the team’s show. Shastri is of the opinion that the team wasn’t beaten convincingly and in most of the matches, India fought really hard. It is not known whether Kohli was part of the discussions with the CoA.
Team India managed to start of the tour with a victory in the T20I series. They also started off with a resounding victory against England in the opening ODI. However they couldn’t quite keep up their momentum as the number one team in ODI’s, England bounced back strongly and took the series 2-1.
Meanwhile, Shastri said that the toss played a crucial factor in the Test series. Kohli didn’t manage to win a single toss but India fought really hard. The scoreline could well have been 3-2 in favor of India had they made full use of the opportunities which were presented to them.
As per reports, it is learned that the CoA asked the coach to know what should be done in order to achieve better results. India will tour Australia later in the year and it will be a huge opportunity for them to win their maiden Test series Down Under in the absence of two big stars Steve Smith and David Warner. Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed Shastri has asked for extra practice games.
Meanwhile as per reports in the Mirror it is also learnt that the Men in Blue is looking for a spin bowling consultant. Nothing has been finalised yet. Former leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani is a spin bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy while Romesh Powar is in charge of the women’s team. The two might be a likely choice if a spin bowling consultant is roped in. There are possibilities that Sunil Joshi might also take up the spot. He is curretly with tthe Bangladesh team and can apply on if vacancies are there.
