CPL 2018: Jamaica Tallawahs thumps Guyana Amazon Warriors by 8 Wickets

In the ongoing sixth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018), an excellent batting effort from Jamaica Tallawahs helped them beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by eight wickets at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

However, Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Andre Russell won the toss and opted to bowl first. The opening pair of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Luke Ronchi, and Cameron Delport aimed to start their innings on a good note. However, Jamaica Tallawahs bowler, Oshane Thomas struck the wicket of Luke Ronchi who scored only six runs. Meanwhile, first down batsman, Shimron Hetmyer and Cameron Delport added 42 runs partnership for their team.

However, Guyana Amazon Warriors started to play some good cricket. Jamaica Tallawahs Samuel Badree picks up the wicket of Cameron Delport who was looking dangerous.

Meanwhile, the fourth wicket partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Mohammed contributed some vital 61-run partnership between them.

Jason Mohammed was the highest-scorer for Guyana Amazon Warriors scoring an incredible 54-run knock.

Moreover, later, Chadwick Walton added 25 runs off his bat. However, Guyana Amazon Warriors posts a score of 173 with the loss of six wickets. Jamaica Tallawahs bowler, Ravman Powell picked up two wickets. Oshane Thomas, Samuel Badree, and Ish Sodhi each picked up one wicket.

Furthermore, Jamaica Tallawahs opener Glenn Phillips and Johnson Charles started their innings in a furious note. They added 40 runs off just 4.3 overs. Wicket-keeper batsman Glenn Phillips got struck by a superb delivery of Imran Tahir. Meanwhile, Jamaica Tallawahs Ross Taylor played some fantastic cricket and had scored unbeaten 60 runs off 41 deliveries scoring five boundaries and three massive sixes.

However, after the departure of Johnson Charles who scored 25 runs, Jamaica’s Rovman Powell added 55 runs with Ross Taylor and wrapped the game with 11 more deliveries left.

Rovman Powell was declared as man of the Match for his unbeaten 55 runs and also picking up two wickets.
