CPL 2018: Shah Rukh Khan Rejoices After Trinbago Knight Riders Qualifies for Final

Popularly known as the “Badshah of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan is thrilled after Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018) franchise Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) won the Qualifier second of the sixth edition of CPL  against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Shah Rukh Khan took to his Twitter handle and stated that he was jumping with joy in his bed after Trinbago managed to win the knockout encounter and qualify for the grand finale of the tournament.

Knight Riders will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) in the final which is slated to be played on September 16 (Sunday).

Taking to his Twitter account, Shah Rukh Khan wrote,  “I jumped even higher on my bed watching our team. Let’s do this… yay!!!”

Shah Rukh Khan is the owner of the franchise. Red Chillies Entertainment manages the team. The Bollywood Badshah is also the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Coming back to the Qualifier two, it was a good all-round performance by Trinbago which helped them go through to the final of the tournament.

After batting first, the Knight Riders posted a competitive 165 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Brendon McCullum provided a solid start as he smashed a brilliant 43 off 26 deliveries which was studded with two fours and three sixes.

In the end, it was a whirlwind knock of 24 off eight deliveries from skipper Dwayne Bravo which propelled Trinbago to a score of 165 runs. His knock was studded with four and three sixes.

Sheldon Cottrell was the pick of the St Kitts bowlers. Cottrell bagged a couple of wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs spell. St Kitts lost the all-important wicket of Chris Gayle without a run on the board.

They kept losing wickets on a consistent basis and could never recover from the slump. Eventually, they managed to score 145 in their allotted 20 overs, falling 20 runs short of the eventual victory target.

For Trinbago Knight Riders, Fawad Ahmed, who was the pick of the bowlers. His figures read three for 11 in his four overs owing to the knockout game of the CPL 2018. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan expressed hope of laying hands on the trophy.
