CPL 2018: Trinbago Knight Riders Thrash Barbados Tridents to Rule Points Table

The 18th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) took place in Kensington Oval, Barbados between Barbados Tridents and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Courtesy Brendon McCullum, Riders won the game by four wickets. and now are topping the points table. However, it was a low-scoring encounter between the two heavyweights.

The summary of the match

Barbados, while batting first could amass a total of 128 after losing eight wickets. For a mere three runs, they lost top three wickets.

Khary Pierre once again provided the first breakthrough for Trinbago, as he breached the defence of Dwayne Smith on just two runs. Later, Shamar Springer fell victim of a run-out as Khary Pierre had shy at the stumps.

The ex-Australia skipper, Steven Smith, could only score a duck in the game. However, Shai Hope was the top scorer for Barbados Tridents with 42 under his belt. The wicketkeeper-batsman of Barbados, Nicholas Pooran scored 34 while, as skipper Jason Holder completed  his 30 runs.

In reply to 129 of Barbados Tridents, Trinbago Knight Riders lost the opening batsman, Chris Lynn on 18. Mohammad Irfan once again repeated the splendid performance with the ball, like that from the previous match. He gave the initial breakthrough and removed Sunil Narine in a jiffy.

Brendon McCullum won the Man of the match

After losing the plot in the middle, Trinbago Knight Riders found the saviour in the name of Brendon McCullum. He scored 66 off 42 and eventually got declared as Man of the match.

In his knock, McCullum struck eight boundaries and three sixes. The other top scorer was Dinesh Ramdin who scored 20 runs.
