England Cricket team seamer Craig Overton bowled on the third day of the Third Test at WACA despite having a crack in the rib. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Saturday (December 16) that the fast bowler underwent scans that showed a hairline crack and he took painkillers before stepping on to the field earlier today.
Overton sustained an injury during the Adelaide after he was hit by a bouncer off Pat Cummins in his midrib, which further aggravated while bowling to Usman Khawaja on Day 2 of the Perth Test.
The tall pacer looked in considerable pain after he dived to his left to try and take a return catch and fell on the bruised side. Overton had a tally of 2 for 102 in the 23 overs he bowled.
He dismissed David Warner and Cameron Bancroft in quick succession to help England go ahead, but Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith registered big scores to help Australia put England out of the contest. England bowlers have all struggled with James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Mooen Ali finding it challenging to lend Overton support.
