A total of 28 international matches across ten venues will shape Australia’s summer that will also include the women’s T20 World Cup. Gabba will host the first Test of the summer from November 21 against Pakistan which forms a part of the ICC World Test Championship. The Aussies have a scintillating record at Brisbane as they are unbeaten in the last 30 Tests since 1988. Then there will be two consecutive Day-Night Tests against Pakistan and New Zealand at Adelaide and Perth respectively.
This will be followed by customary Test matches at Melbourne and Sydney. Meanwhile, New Zealand will play their first Boxing Day Test after a gap of 32 years and just the fourth time they’ve ever played a Test at the venue. CA’s Head of Cricket Operations Peter Roach said admitted that scheduling international cricket is a tough act considering other international team’s schedule.
“Scheduling international cricket is challenging in that nine of the ten major cricketing countries have seasons similar to ours, so working with them to find space in the calendar to fulfil our obligations to the ICC Future Tours Program (FTP) is a juggling act,” Roach said.
There will be a 63-day break between the men’s home international fixtures, with Australia’s ODI team expected to be in India for about 10 days in late January. Australia are also scheduled to visit South Africa and Bangladesh for limited overs fixtures in February according to the FTP, a period when they are often on the road.

Meanwhile, the men’s international summer also opens with T20s when the Aussies play back-to-back three-game series against Sri Lanka and then Pakistan – currently the world’s No.1 T20 side, starting October 27 at the Adelaide Oval.
