ICC World Cup 2019: India Have a Fantastic Chance to Win, feels Dilip Vengsarkar

The ICC World Cup 2019 is round the corner, and every team have begun their full-fledged preparations to give their best shot in the biggest cricketing extravaganza. England and Wales will host the 12th edition of the quadrennial tournament commencing from May 30. As the competition has started approaching closer, former cricketers and pundits have started predicting their winners for the marquee event. Former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar feels India have a fantastic chance to win the trophy in the upcoming tournament.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blues have played some good cricket in the last two years and enters the tournament as the second-ranked ODI team after England. In the past two years, the Virat Kohli-led side have defeated the likes of South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand at their home. However, their recent snubbing against the Aussies raised questions about their team combination.

India will be in the top four

Skipper Virat Kohli said the series loss won’t have any bearing over their performance in the World Cup. However, the only concern will be fatigue as the Indian players are currently plying their trade in the Indian Premier League. They leave for the World Cup within ten days of the culmination of the T20 league.

Dilip Vengsarkar, when quizzed about the probable winners, said that he can’t predict who will lift the prestigious trophy. But he feels India have a fantastic chance to win and admitted that they will surely be in to the top four.

“To be honest with you, I can’t predict who will win the final,” he remarked yesterday at the launch of the T20 Mumbai League for whom he is a mentor. However, Vengsarkar added: “India has a fantastic chance to win the Cup. They will definitely be in the Last 4. We have potential and all players are in form,” he concluded.

Indian National Cricket team begin their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.
