The members of the Indian cricket team will have a break of a week or two after World Cup 2019 as the Cricket West Indies has agreed to push the dates of India tour of West Indies by a couple of weeks, a report in ESPNcricinfo suggests.

Earlier, the members of team India were to leave for Caribbean islands right after the ICC tournament.

This would not have given players time to take rest.

Regardless of the fact whether team India qualifies for the next stage of the tournament or not, Men in Blue will play nine matches.

Their final league stage game is against Sri Lanka on July 6.

The semi-finals of the World Cup are to be played on July 9 and 11 before the final on July 14.

As per the current schedule, the players would not have got the rest that they would need after such gruelling tournament.

Now, the players might fly back to India to spend a week or two in the country before flying to West Indies for two Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.

Though it has not been confirmed, the T20I matches could be played in the USA.

In 2016 as well, India played two-match T20I series in the USA after the completion of the Test series.

To avoid the overlapping with international fixtures, Cricket West Indies has also decided to delay the staging of Caribbean Premier League, the report in ESPNcricinfo adds.

Earlier, the T20 carnival was to be played from August 21 to September 27.

As per the updated schedule, the tournament will be played from September 4 to October 12.

This would also mean that the top Caribbean players will once again take part in the tournament as the team will not be playing any international fixture at that time.

The report also adds the team India might go on to play a warm-up match prior to the Test series.

This will give Indian players a chance to assimilate to the conditions in the Caribbean.

Already as many as seven to eight players are already in line to play county cricket prior to West Indies tour.

For now, it has been confirmed that Ajinkya Rahane will be playing for Hampshire prior to the series.

Other players are also in line to make their county debuts this season.

Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal are two of the many players who could play county cricket soon.
