South Africa batsman David Miller has opened up about his admiration of Shikhar Dhawan’s batting style. Miller has been a regular in the IPL and has represent KXIP for quite a few years. However, he will be in new colours, representing Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season of the lucrative tournament.
Miller has been a pretty handy batsman in the shortest format. He can score quick-fire runs and help his side clinch victory with his prowess. Miller said that he has grown up watching quite a few crickets and Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist were his role models. He also mentioned that he likes how India opener Shikhar Dhawan approaches the game.
“There are many cricketers that I admire. Growing up my role models were Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist. Both of them were left-handers and always took the aggressive and positive route. Someone I’ve really enjoyed seeing batting in the IPL has been Shikhar Dhawan,” he said.
“I just love how he goes about his game. I’ve got to know him as a person as well. He is extremely relaxed about his outlook on his game and is very professional. But at the same time, he understands that cricket is cricket and sometimes things turn out differently. But, yeah, just the way he goes about his business and is a really consistent performer. So, I really enjoy watching him bat.”
Miller has made 79 appearances in IPL. He has scored 1850 runs at an average over 34 with nine half-centuries and one century to his name.
IPL will get underway from September 19 with the final being played on November 10. However, the final fixture for the lucrative tournament is still to be announced, with Mumbai Indians set to put their title on defense.
