Australia started their home summer ruthlessly by clean-sweeping the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. At the heart of their dominant performance, stood David Warner, whose unbeaten run throughout the leg enabled him to create several milestones. Lasith Malinga’s men endured a tough series as they were unable to come anywhere close to beating Australia in three consecutive games.
David Warner began the series by cracking a century in Adelaide that helped Australia post a daunting 233 on the board. A composed half-century in Brisbane by stitching a match-winning partnership along with Steve Smith helped Australia seal the series. The little dynamite crafted another disciplined knock to gun down the target of 143 in less than 18 overs. In the process, Warner went past Virat Kohli to become the second batsman to score 200 runs in a three-match T20I series. Kohli had mustered a tally of 199 runs in 2015-16 tour of Australia.

The 33-year old also became only the third batsman to achieve three fifty-plus scores in consecutive games in a bilateral T20I series. The other two batsmen include Virat Kohli and Colin Munro. The latter holds the record of most runs in a bilateral T20I series with 223 runs that came against West Indies in 2017-18.

The explosive left-hander became the first Australian batsman to go past 2000 runs in the shortest format for Australia. The only maximum struck by him in the third T20 international made him go past 100 sixes in international cricket, the record for which is held by Adam Gilchrist with 105 sixes.
Australia now turn their attention to the number one ranked team in the shortest format, Pakistan. The men from sub-continent will begin their tour down under with a T20 international at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. The subsequent games will take place in Canberra and Perth before the two Test matches at Brisbane and Adelaide.
