Despite Edgbaston Loss, Ravichandran Ashwin Pleased With Worcestershire's Performance

India met with a heartbreaking defeat on the penultimate day of the first Test match against England at Edgbaston. They suffered a close loss of 31 runs despite Indian skipper, Virat Kohli’s heroics. On the other side, ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed satisfaction following the solid show from Worcestershire, the English county club in the United Kingdom (UK).
The skipper came with yet sizzling performance when it mattered most for his him and his team in a nutshell. Virtually, the first Test match was a contest between England and Kohli. He scored 48 per cent runs of the game alone.
Apart from his maiden ton on the English soil in the first innings, Kohli came back with a gritty fifty in the second innings. However, Ben Stokes trapped him in front of the stumps on 51 off 93 balls.
While speaking to media, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli said,
“Glad to be a part of such an exciting Test match. There were a couple of moments when we came back. A team like England doesn’t let you do it every day, they were relentless, and they made us work very hard for our runs.”
The mystery of Ravichandran Ashwin and England
The ace spinner of India, Ashwin displayed his phenomenal performance on English soil as well. He was the top wicket taker from India in the first innings as he ended up with the figures of four for 62. He drew the first blood drop of English batting line up as he outclassed Alastair Cook completely.
In the second innings, Ashwin took three wickets for 59 runs and once again, Cook displayed a dismal performance against him. He once against castled the stumps of Cook with an unplayable delivery.

In a post-match briefing the Indian spinner, Ashwin said,
“When you make runs and pick up wickets, you want to make sure that it is a killer blow (to the opposition) and you want to end up on the winning side. It gives you more pleasure out of the game, and when it doesn’t happen, you feel a little deflated about it. This game was like a see-saw battle, and there was enough in there for the pacers,”
