Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has had a prolific 2018 season with the willow. However, it took Kartik quite some time to establish himself in the international scenes. Although he made his debut ahead of MS Dhoni, the latter went on to cement his place in the side for over a decade. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old batter though positively took things and found his groove just in time.

Of late, DK’s quick-fire cameo against Bangladesh earned him the reputation of a finisher. Going by the records, every time Karthik remained unbeaten in a T20I game, India went on to seal a victory. Furthermore, his recent knock came against Australia in a run-chase, as he along with skipper Virat Kohli took India home to level the T20I series 1-1.

Meanwhile, the restless cricketer took to Instagram to kill time. He put up an ‘Insta story’ asking fans to shoot questions at him. One such curious fan asked him the secret behind wearing 21 behind his back. The KKR captain replied saying it’s his wife’s date of birth and hence he sports the number in his limited-overs jersey.

However, time and again the wicket-keeper batsman has showered praises for his wife – Dipika Pallikal, who is one of the finest squash players in the world.

Meanwhile, it has been a challenge for the cricketer to keep floating as he no longer keeps wickets. Youngster Rishabh Pant has been entrusted with the role, and therefore the Tamil Nadu cricketer plays as a pure batsman in the side.

“That’s my role here, when there’s pressure, absorb the pressure, try and help the team win. As a senior player, that’s my role in the team. At the same time, play confident cricket. It was important that the good bowlers were seen through.” he said post the victory in Sydney.
