Kings XI Punjab star Chris Gayle has been hospitalised, the veteran batsman himself confirmed the news on Saturday evening. While he did not reveal the reason behind the same, it looks like food poisoning is the reason.
Earlier this week, KXIP head coach Anil Kumble had revealed that Chris Gayle was not included in the playing eleven for the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad due to food poisoning. Had he not fallen ill, Chris Gayle would have played his first game of IPL 2020 during that clash.
“Chris Gayle was going to play today’s match but he’s sick. He’s down with food poisoning that’s why he isn’t in playing eleven,” Anil Kumble had told the commentators during the clash against SRH.
And when Chris Gayle didn’t play against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, it raised a number of eyebrows. The team-management had not revealed the reason behind his absence as fans expressed their surprise over the same. But a couple of hours after the game ended, Chris Gayle took to Instagram to reveal that he was in hospital.
The Universe Boss posted a cool picture of himself lying on the hospital bed and wrote:
“I can tell you this!!! I will never go down without a fight!! I Am The #UniverseBoss – That will never changed!! You can learn from me…but its not everything I do you should follow!! Don’t forget my style and flare too!! #LivingDiLife #Always 🇯🇲 Thanks for all your concerns peeps, much appreciated ✊🏿❤️🙏🏿 (I really was on a phone call) 😄”
KXIP, nonetheless, lost to KKR by two runs to suffer their fifth loss on the trot and sixth loss in seven games. Chasing 165, they were 115 for no loss in the 15th over before an inexplicable batting performance saw them throw the game away.
