The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are very keen to resume cricketing action, so much so that they are looking to install Coronavirus checkpoints and isolation units at cricket grounds itself. However, as per early reports, spectators will not be allowed to enter the ground premises just yet.
The ECB had earlier suspended all formats of professional cricket until 28 May, owing to the impending dangers of Coronavirus Pandemic. This caused a delay in the English domestic season and the ‘Hundred’ England’s newest take at limited-overs cricket.
So far, more than five million people have tested positive for the deadly disease with more than 22,000 casualties worldwide.
However, the ECB is still looking at ways to resume cricket albeit, behind closed doors.

ECB planning to install coronavirus checkpoints in a bid to restart cricket:
ECB’s director of events Steve Elworthy revealed in a recent interview revealed how the cricketing body was putting plans in place to allow only a handful of individuals into ground premises since the UK government has banned a gathering of more than 500 people.
“We’re mapping out what international matches would look like behind closed doors,” Elworthy told the Guardian. “The advice around mass gatherings was 500 people or fewer. That was guided by the potential impact on critical services like paramedics and doctors.”
He continued, “You would likely have to work within that number (which would be made up of essential matchday staff)… then you have to think about medical provisions, creating a safe and sterile environment around that venue, so that everyone who comes in is clear.”
Elworthy further added that they are willing to do all take all the aforementioned steps although first-things-first, public safety will be at the forefront of any forthcoming decision.
England was due to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka but the ECB pulled the plug on it, owing to fears regarding the Coronavirus.
Furthermore, the Three Lions’ upcoming cricket calendar will have to be rescheduled completely, as they were due to host the West Indies, Australia, Pakistan and Ireland, before the end of 2020.
