Misbah Ul Haq, Pakistan Head-Coach and national selector, will be asked to reflect on his and the team’s performance in the past 12 months at his annual appraisal, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has said.

Misbah Ul Haq might have to face some tough questions in the wake of Pakistan’s Test series defeat in England [0-1] but it appears that the former skipper might well continue with the job.

Misbah Ul Haq was appointed as Pakistan’s head coach as well as a chief selector last September and since then the performances of the national team has been lacklustre at best. They won the ODI series at home before being whitewashed by a second-string Sri Lankan side [0-3] in T20Is, post which the Men in Green went on to lose both T20I and Test series- 0-2 and 0-2- in Australia before they retained some lost ground by beating Bangladesh in Test and T20I series on home soil earlier this year.

‘’I believe in empowerment and that’s precisely why Misbah was given full authority and support. But he very much remains accountable and as part of his appraisal process, he will be interviewed by the PCB Cricket Committee,” Ehsan Mani told ‘The Dawn’

“He will be asked to reflect on his own and team’s performances, and share his vision for the future’’ he added.

Pakistan are currently placed at the sixth and seventh spot in ODI and Test cricket and have also slipped to the 4th spot in the T20I rankings in the past 12 months.

And, one of the things that have plagued Pakistan cricket has been the inconsistency in performances. Mani said that in order to bring in consistency, the PCB has assembled a professional management, which has a clear vision and understanding of the steps required for Pakistan to perform consistently at the international level.

“To address this problem and bring consistency in the team’s and players’ performance, the PCB has put in place a professional management team with the men’s side whose understanding of the modern game is second to none and has a clear vision of the steps required for Pakistan to perform well consistently at the international level,” Mani said.
