It was a sensational inning from the blade of India skipper Virat Kohli which got India back into the opening Test.

However, the England fast bowlers bowled magnificently. They had the visitors under a huge heap of trouble on the 2nd day of the Test match. It was then where the grit and determination of the Indian skipper came into effect.

He single-handedly guided India to a position where they could hope to boss the game at one stage. His innings eventually put India on a commanding position on day three of the Test match.

Virat Kohli scored well over 50% of India’s runs. It left the match well on the balance at the end of the day. He smashed a breathtaking 149 off 225 deliveries, as India were bowled out for 274 in 76 overs.

It was a great effort from the Indian skipper especially given the fact that he didn’t have a particularly impressive start to his innings.

Earlier, Kohli got dropped on a couple of occasions en route to 149. Both the chances proved to quite costly for the home team. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s 149 runs in his first innings bettered his total tally of runs in the 2014 tour where he had scored just 134 runs in ten innings. It was a great effort by the skipper to take India within 13 short of the England total.

Meanwhile on the 3rd day, the Indian bowlers especially Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma ran through the English batting line-up before Sam Curran, the bowling hero and Adil Rashid forged an important little partnership to help England back into the match.
