The England Cricket Board (ECB) has cleared speculations on the injury sustained to Jos Buttler.

He has been in some exceptional form across formats and will play an essential role for England with the bat in the 2nd innings. It was during the second day’s play of the opening Test between England and India that Buttler jammed his fingers. It was during India’s batting that the incident happened. Buttler walked out of the field quite immediately.

There was a possibility Buttler might have fractured his injury. It also led to speculations about his participation in the rest of the game. He was taken immediately to the hospital for scans. However, the reports suggested there is nothing to worry.

The wicketkeeper-batsman is all set to be back for the rest of the match. However, Buttler didn’t come out on the field on the 2nd day after sustaining the injury. He will play a big role, as England hopes to fight out and win the series opener at Edgbaston.

BBC rules out any fracture scare to Jos Buttler

The BBC dismissed all the speculations that Buttler might have sustained a fracture on the finger.

“No fracture in his left middle finger, but unlikely to return to the field today,” the BBC tweeted to relive the England fans and supporters.

“He’ll continue to ice finger to reduce swelling. The X-ray suggested that he was hit but not hard enough to have broken the bone,” it further read.

The opening Test is tilted slightly in favour of India’s favour. However, it is only by a slender margin. It was a special knock from the blade of Indian skipper Virat Kohli which helped India claw their way back into the game.

Jos Buttler had an injury scare on day two of the Edgbaston Test against India.

England was bowled out for 287 in the 1st essay. Sam Curran started the slide of India with three quick wickets. Ben Stokes joined in the fun, and it seemed India would be bowled out for less than 150 runs.

Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya got dropped on successive deliveries when India had lost five wickets for just 500 runs. However, Virat cashed in on the dropped chances and went on to smash a sensational 149.

England came out to bat for just 15 minutes and lost opener, Alastair Cook. It was almost an action replay of his dismissal in the 1st innings. Currently, England reached 9/1 in 3.4 overs with a lead of 22 runs.
