The Indian team is a force to reckon with in the limited-overs cricket. But there is one jigsaw which is yet to be solved, and that is of the no.4 spot.

Batsman KL Rahul had an impressive run in the IPL this year and the former Indian Test opener, Aakash Chopra feels Rahul is the right man for the job.

The Kings XI Punjab opener amassed 659 runs at an average of 54.91 from 14 matches. He overshadowed his opening partner Chris Gayle and had the orange cap on his head for a fair bit of time. Rahul was consistent and teed off the opposition bowling without any mercy.

KL for the no.4 spot?

Chopra, who now dons the hat of a cricket analyst, placed his bet on the Karnataka batsman. He tweeted,

“Rahul is a special player…India must find a way to keep him in the XI in all three formats. My vote for him to bat at #4 in ODI”.

It will be interesting to see if skipper Virat Kohli provides ample opportunity to the promising talent.

The tour to England will surely be an acid test for all the Indian batsman, and Rahul wants to take confidence into the series. Rahul believes India’s impressive outing in South Africa will hold them in a good state.

“It is great to have scored that many runs in IPL but international cricket is very different. Also, it will take time to get acclimatized to the English conditions. Although, runs are runs and we, as a group, are confident especially after the way we performed in South Africa earlier this year.” he said

India is currently in the UK, participating in a T20I series against Ireland.

It will be followed by the England series. Eoin Morgan’s men will be high on confidence after their latest win against Australia, and they would look to repeat the same.
