Eng vs Ind 2018: England Won Pivotal Situations, Virat Kohli Lacked Support - VVS Laxman

Former Indian flamboyant batsman VVS Laxman believes England won the crucial junctions of the match whereas Virat Kohli lacked support. India lacked the knockout punch when they had England on the mat.
The Indian bowlers could not wipe out England’s tail as Sam Curran and Co. continued to hurt the visitors. On the other hand, Virat Kohli was the lone warrior with the bat and didn’t found much support from the other end. Thus, another overseas series has gone begging from India’s grasp.
Another disappointing overseas result for India.
India did several things right in Southampton as they strived for a series-leveling win in the 4th Test,” Laxman wrote for Times of India. It is disappointing for a team that has everything it takes to be successful, away from home too.”
England was 86-6 on the first day of the fourth Test, however with the help of a brilliant 78 from Sam Curran they ended up with 246. Consequently, the question of, “How to get rid of Sam Curran“ was missing from India’s dressing room’s rendezvous.
“As brilliantly as the bowlers have performed, they allowed England to get out of jail in both innings of the fourth Test. England has an array of attacking talent in the lower middle order, using those resources to recover from 86/6 on the first morning and 92/4 on the third afternoon to post 246 and 271, respectively,” wrote VVS Laxman.
Similarly, India was 142-2 in their first innings but went down like a house of cards to give away the advantage baton to the hosts.
Therefore, the tourists have relied heavily on the shoulders of Virat Kohli.
“The bowling has by and large been incisive but, in admittedly tricky conditions, the batting has been found wanting. Virat has been an overwhelming exception, and during his century stand with Ajinkya Rahane in the fourth innings, raised visions of a glorious win in Southampton. But he needs consistent support and that hasn’t been forthcoming,” VVS Laxman concluded.
India has time and again let the advantage baton slip from their grasp. Hence, they have found themselves catching up in the series. The Virat Kohli’s men must learn from their mistakes and must make most of the situations.
