Young India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has attained full fitness and is likely to feature in the third of the five-match Test series against England starting from August 18 at Trent Bridge.

Meanwhile, Bumrah sustained the injury during the T20I against Ireland on 27th June. As a result, he missed the limited-overs encounters against England. The 24-year-old pacer underwent surgery in England, but it wasn’t a great success.

Despite not fully recovering from the injury, the selectors included Jasprit Bumrah for the first three Test. They admitted that Bumrah would be available for selection from the second Test.

“Jasprit Bumrah is in the squad, will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness,” the selectors said at the time of naming the squad.

Jasprit Bumrah made his Test debut against South Africa earlier this year. He played in all the games scalping 14 wickets throughout the series. However, BCCI decided to give him some rest during the one-off Test series against Afghanistan following the Indian Premier League.

However, this will be delightful news for the India team management, who will look to turn the tables from the third Test. Bumrah has been practising with the main team right from the start of the series but decided not to take a risk at Lord’s.

India 2-0 down in the series

India suffered a humiliating loss against England at Lord’s by an innings and 156 runs to go 0-2 down in the five-match Test series. Stuart Broad and James Anderson shared eight wickets among them in the second innings, exploiting the minimal conditions to produce masterclass to which Indian batsmen had no answer.

Chris Woakes (137*) and Sam Curran extended the first-innings lead to 289 in the morning session of day four. With England at 397 for six, Joe Root decided to declare to ominous clouds overhead. James Anderson continued his attack and got the better of Indian openers.

Ravichandran Ashwin topped the batting chart in both the innings with 29 and 33* runs, respectively. Woakes (2/24) continued his excellent performance trapping Hardik Pandya (26) lbw before Anderson came to clean up the tail. Furthermore, Woakes ended the proceeding routing Ishant Sharma to go 2-0 up.

Meanwhile, with Jasprit Bumrah back in contention, India will look to stage a comeback in the next game.
