Former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly believes Virat Kohli has got the best out of MS Dhoni. Ganguly said Kohli had handled Dhoni well in his tenure as the Indian captain.

Ganguly said that usually, the former captains fade after the appointment of a rookie captain. However, Kohli-Dhoni case is one of the exceptions.

Furthermore, Kohli has given confidence to MS Dhoni that he is a crucial cog in the Indian team wheel.

“Virat has handled MS Dhoni well. We haven’t seen this happen in the past. Normally, former captains fade away with time. But Virat has given confidence to Dhoni that he is still an important player for the team in ODIs and T20Is,” Ganguly said while talking to IndiaTV.

The Prince of Kolkata believes MS Dhoni will have an important role to play till the next World Cup in England and Wales. Ganguly hailed Dhoni for his immense contribution to the Indian cricket over the years.

“Dhoni is a great player. He has played in so many matches, he has captained India in so many matches. He is a legend. The next World Cup is just a year away and it will be played in England. Till then, I feel Dhoni will have an important role to play in the team,” added Ganguly.

Furthermore, Ganguly went on to add Virat Kohli is a brilliant skipper. Kohli always wants to win and his hunger for the game is well known. In fact, Kohli has always led with aplomb.

“Virat Kohli is a brilliant captain. He always wants his team to win,” Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni share a great bond on and off the field. Dhoni had backed Virat Kohli in the initial stages of latter’s career. Furthermore, Kohli is returning the favour in the fag end of Dhoni’s career.
