Team India middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane is one of the most classy batsmen in the Indian team. As far as overseas Tests are concerned Rahane is always known as someone who loves playing in challenging conditions and this time around he is in England to prove his credentials.
The right-handed batsman Rahane has a very good Test record in the countries like Australia, England and New Zealand respectively where the ball does a bit.
Rahane is always a dedicated individual. He might not be in the best form of late but given his stature as a player, he will definitely to stamp his authority against England.
In 2014 when India toured England, Rahane scored a magnificent century in the Lord’s Test. It was a green top where all the other Indian batsmen barring Bhuvneshwar Kumar couldn’t support Rahane. He went on to smash a counter-attacking century which laid the foundation for a special win at Lord’s.
However, their joy was short-lived. India ended up losing all the remaining three Tests to surrender the series by a 1-3 margin. It was Rahane who went to attend the press conference on behalf of the India Team on Monday (July 30).
The opening Test begins on Wednesday (August 1).
Ajinkya Rahane reveals the plans of Team India:
Rahane was asked by one of the reporters that how does Team India plan overseas to face different challenges. He further stated that playing in England is always a big challenge.
“Definitely Yes. First of allm facing England in England is always a challenge. We have been here in 2014 and we know what it takes to play good cricket in England. So for us, it is important that we want to play some good cricket rather than thinking of the results. Because sometimes what happens is, if you think about the result you put pressure on yourself. So, this time we just want to play some good cricket at least for ourselves,” Rahane said.
Ajinkya further added that loves facing the challenges in overseas conditions like England.
“Here in England, the ball swings does a bit. In Australia England, there is bounce and playing in New Zealand the ball does a bit. But again my mind right now is present. One game at a time. One Test at a time. But I am really looking forward to the series,” Rahane added.
