If 2020 was a review, then it has got to be England’s absolutely ridiculous DRS call off Aaron Finch in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

It all happened in the seventh over of the Australian innings after Aaron Finch defended a loopy leg-break from Adil Rashid on the front foot.

England was pretty sure that it was pad first rather than bat and they immediately went for what eventually turned out to be an embarrassing review as it clearly showed on replay that the Aussie skipper had defended it with his bat than his pads.

Not out was the call on the big screen leading to a chuckle among the English contingent. Finch survived but only just, as he was eventually dismissed for a 33-ball 40 after he inside-edged Chris Jordan on his stumps.

And, as it turned out, Finch’s 40 turned out to be Australia’s highest individual score of the innings as the visitors struggled to get going throughout the course of 20 overs after the English fast bowling duo of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood went bang bang in the opening overs before Steve Smith was run-out by Eoin Morgan, reducing Australia to 3-30 in the powerplay.

Australia finished strongly thanks to some enterprising strokes by Marcus Stoinis [35 off 26 balls] Glenn Maxwell [26 off 18 balls], Ashton Agar [23 off 19 balls], and lusty blows by Pat Cummins in the final over, ensuring that they finished at a respectable total of 7-157.
