The former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly believes Indian batsmen need to score big so that the spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal can apply pressure on the England batsmen.

Meanwhile, the loss at Cardiff is a reality check for the visitors, and they will have to chalk out new strategies. The visitors lost the match in Cardiff, as England came from back to level the series.

With the conditions favouring the seamers, India managed to post a total of 148/5. However, it was a rough day at work for spin-twins giving away 64 runs, as the hosts marched towards victory.

They didn’t make enough runs. You cannot win a match by posting a score of 148. England bowled well, the surface was different from Manchester, as there was more grass and it carried a lot of pace, which played to England’s advantage. Kuldeep and Chahal leaked 64 runs and that’s why they won. It’s a challenging series, the fight will be worth it and surely the same can be expected in the ODIs,” Ganguly told IndiaTV.

Further, Ganguly noted the Indian batsmen need to score runs with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma yet to stamp their authority.

He also added it was a good comeback by the hosts making the series even more intense.

Not worried about Rohit’s form

The former cricketer, however, didn’t seem too perturbed with Rohit’s form. He believes the opener has performed well earlier in these conditions and will slowly find his rhythm in this tour.

It’s been a slow start for him in this series. He’s a good player no doubt as he has scored in these conditions such as the Champions Trophy and the last time India toured England. He’ll slowly find his rhythm. I’m not worried about him and the rest of the Indian batsman. It was a day when England played better than India,” Ganguly added.

In conclusion, Ganguly noted the spin day should forget the game at Cardiff and focus on the series decider at Bristol.
