After enrolling his name in both the honor boards of Lord’s, the English Bowling all-rounder, Chris Woakes got Player of the match award. He won this for his unbeaten maiden Test ton of 137 runs.
India faced first inning defeat since 2014. The last one came in Oval, and England defeated India by an inning and 244 runs in that match. It was first such defeat under the leadership of Virat Kohli.
Once again, India failed to take the overseas Test match into the fifth day. While batting first England opted to bowl first. Indian batting fell like a pack of cards as England bundled them on 107.

In return to the total of 107, England put some phenomenal performance. With the help of 137 from Chris Woakes and 92 from Jonny Bairstow, England announced declaration after reaching to a total of 396 for the loss of seven wickets.
India faced a deficit of 289 after England completed their inning. James Anderson removed openers in a quick session followed by a rain break.

However, it was Stuart Broad who dented the top cover after then. Broad got the four scalps while leaking 44 runs. Anderson wrapped up his figures with 4/23 in the second inning.
Chris Woakes won Player of the match award
Chris Woakes won player of the match award after displaying some fantastic all-around performance. In the first inning, he got two scalps followed by unbeaten 137 from the bat. In the second inning, he again took two wickets. After making it to honor’s board, Woakes said,
“Scoring a hundred and getting on the honors’ board is something that will stay with me forever. Sunk in a little bit more now. Wish I had sunk it up more in the middle, kind of went by in a flash.”

While receiving the award, the 29-year-old all-rounder, Woakes felt delighted with such performance. He said emotions were running high on his nerves. Woakes credited Jonny Bairstow for calming him.
“Delighted to win the Test inside four days when we lost a day and a half to rain is special. Emotions have run high all game I suppose. I was a little bit nervous from 80 onwards, started wooshing outside off stump. Jonny calmed me down a bit, which is funny because usually, I calm him down. Been an amazing game.”
