Former Indian cricketer, Mohinder Amarnath stated that if you are No.1 ranked Test team, then you must deliver according to the expectations and also win the match. Except for the Trent Bridge Test, India had a dismal show against England in the United Kingdom so far.

However, England already sealed the series 3-1 after they won the fourth Test match of the five-match Test series against India.

However, after India lost the fourth Test match against England at Southampton by 60 runs, Amarnath wants Indian team to pull up their socks and play the dead rubber like the No.1 side.

In 1983 World Cup, Mohinder Amarnath was declared as the ‘Man of the Match’ under the leadership of Kapil Dev.

Amarnath also explained that how a team feels after winning such a vital match. He also talks about the challenging situations and to make things use in a better way.

“The last Test at the Oval will be challenging. Once you have lost the series, a lot of things play on your mind,” Amarnath said.

“Many have not scored runs and they’ll be under pressure with the home season looming. It’ll be a big test of character for them to come good and play for pride. But the series has been lost. It’s always about winning. If you’re No. 1, you have to win.” Amarnath added.

Meanwhile, Mohinder Amarnath also speaks that the bowlers did a fantastic job throughout the series for India against hosts England.

However, it was a failure from the batting end. India skipper, Virat Kohli was the only batsman who scored the highest runs for his team, scoring 544 runs from eight innings.

“Technique was probably why the batting let us down. A lot of guys got starts but just could not convert because of lack of application, temperament, and rhythm. Virat has shown this right through the series. Of course, one can say the English batsmen also didn’t score runs, but they have won the series.” Amarnath added.

However, India had toured to England hoping to win the series, but they failed to live upto the expectations. India will play their fifth Test match against England beginning on September 7, 2018, at The Kennington Oval in London.
