KL Rahul pouched yet another low-catch to dismiss Moeen Ali as India extended their dominance over England on day three of the fourth Test in Southampton.
Meanwhile, starting with the overnight score of six for no loss, Alastair Cook tried hard to get some runs under his belt beginning on a cautious note. He left the ball outside the off-stump as the Indian pacer kept posing serious questions.
However, he failed to sustain too long edging one off Jasprit Bumrah on the fourth stump corridor. Bumrah got Cook driving and gets him caught in the slip cordon. Rahul juggles it a couple of times but then hangs on to the rebound at the second slip.
This brought Ali in the middle, who was coming on the back of double hundred in the County Cricket. He was high in confidence after returning with a five-wicket haul with the ball on day two. However, he failed to produce a stellar effort with the bat.
KL Rahul hangs on to a low catch to dismiss Moeen Ali:
Rahul continued his excellent form with the catching grabbing another one at the slip region. This time it was Ali, who failed to replicate his performance with the bat after getting a promotion.
It was a length delivery that curved away from off, straightening from round the wicket. Ali fails to account for the late movement. His front foot was stuck in the crease as he tries hard to play it with soft hands.
Hence the edge was dying to the right of Rahul who did well to complete a catch.
Ali stood for few second as Bruce Oxenford’s soft signal is out too. The replays proved that his fingers are underneath it. The third umpire concurs. India will have to capitalise on this start to put pressure on England and bowl out as early as possible.
