India spinner Ravindra Jadeja has vouched to come back stronger following his side’s humiliating loss against England at Lord’s by an innings and 156 runs to go 0-2 down in the five-match Test series.

Meanwhile, Stuart Broad and James Anderson shared eight wickets among them in the second innings, exploiting the minimal conditions to produce masterclass to which Indian batsmen had no answer.

Chris Woakes (137*) and Sam Curran extended the first-innings lead to 289 in the morning session of day four. With England at 397 for six, Joe Root decided to declare to ominous clouds overhead. Moreover, Root’s ploy to put more pressure on India’s beleaguered batting line-up worked brilliantly when Anderson struck in the second over.

James Anderson continued his attack and got the better of Indian openers. Later, Ajinkya Rahane walked to the crease instead of India skipper Virat Kohli, as law restricted him.

Rahane could only muster 13 before he fell to Broad for the fifth time in nine Tests. Wickets started tumbling, as nobody managed to offer resistance.

Ravichandran Ashwin topped the batting chart in both the innings with 29 and 33* runs, respectively. Woakes (2/24) continued his excellent performance trapping Hardik Pandya (26) lbw before Anderson came to clean up the tail. Furthermore, Woakes ended the proceeding routing Ishant Sharma to go 2-0 up.

Meanwhile, India will have plenty of food for thought, as they prepare for the remaining three Tests.

On the other hand, England is on a roll, with Anderson and Broad – combined age of 68 – bowling as well as they have ever done.

Ravindra Jadeja confident to come back strong

Jadeja, India’s obvious choice in subcontinent conditions, hasn’t featured in any of the Test so far. Kuldeep Yadav got a nod ahead of him in the second Test at Lord’s but made a very little impact.

Many former cricketers batted for Ravindra Jadeja considering his ability to bat, but the management overlooked him for some reason. However, now, he has vouched to come back strong courtesy a post on social media.

#nevergiveup #boost#rajputboy,” he wrote on Instagram.
