England vs India 2018: Twitter Erupts as Hanuma Vihari Makes His Debut

Finally, all those big tallies in the domestic cricket earned a place for Hanuma Vihari in the Indian Team. He received his debut cap on Friday (September 7) at The Kennington Oval, London in the fifth Test of the England vs India 2018 series.
However, the flamboyant middle-order right-handed batsman has been terrific for his state in the Ranji Trophy and then smashed mammoth tallies while playing for India A. However, all the hard work paid for him to earn his maiden Test cap as well.
Hanuma Vihari replaced Hardik Pandya:
After the repeated failures with the bat, Virat Kohli-led side dropped Hardik Pandya for the fifth. Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin, who is having the fitness concern was also left out for the final test of the series.
Also, the left-handed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja replaced Ashwin while Vihari replaced Pandya in the team. Apart from the both, India retained the remaining nine players who played at Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Kohli once again lost the toss in the series. The toss-winning Joe Root asked Kohli-led side to roll their arms first. As per Sanjay Manjrekar, the pitch looked more like a Wankhede wicket assisting fast bowlers for the first hour of play.
Coming to Vihari, he has been the leading run-scorer in the Ranji Season for 2017-18. He is a force to reckon in the domestic cricket as he always displayed magical knocks to his name in the domestic circuit.
However, it is the rightly-earned debut for the Andhra youngster who is waiting on the sidelines for a long time.
Also, he becomes the 292nd player for India to debut in Tests. But the previous player to make the debut appearance was Rishabh Pant.

Hanuma Vihari is the 292nd player to play Test cricket for India. Wonder what mental effect it will have on Karun Nair. The guy has been there all summer and the team has picked a player who has flown in as a replacement. That triple hundred in Chennai seems a curse. #ENGvIND

The last player before Hanuma Vihari to be in India's Test XI while playing for the Andhra team was MSK Prasad (In Jan 2000 vs AUS, SCG). #ENGvIND

Can Hanuma Vihari make the number 6 spot his own? Give him a run of a few games at least. At the same time spare a thought for Karun Nair!

Wish Hanuma Vihari the best as he makes his debut for India today. But boy, how tough it is to be Karun Nair right now. What wrong he has done to be not picked? @wmakarand @simpleharish #IndvsEng
