England have come roaring back into the three-match #raisethebat Wisden Trophy, beating the West Indies by 113 runs to assume parity in the series.

West Indies didn’t get off to the best of starts in the post-Tea session as Chris Woakes trapped Shane Dowrich LBW for a three-ball duck.

Skipper Jason Holder blunted 12.3 overs alongside Shamarh Brooks [62] before the latter was trapped leg-before wicket by Sam Curran. Dom Bess was carted for a four and six off consecutive deliveries by Jason Holder but the off-spinner had the last laugh as he produced a perfect delivery to bowl the Windies captain through the gates on the middle-stump.

Alzarri Joseph’s adventurous strokeplay once again proved to be his undoing as he slashed straight to point to leave West Indies nine down. And, the moment finally came when Dom Bess dismissed Kemar Roach courtesy a screamer from Ollie Pope to give England a well-deserved 113-run win.

Ben Stokes blitz helped England time the declaration perfectly

Earlier, Ben SUPERSTAR Stokes showed every facet of outrageous talent during the course of this Test match. And, just as everyone expected, the MVP was at his absolute best on the 5th and decisive day.

England needed quick runs which is exactly what Stokes provided them with on the 5th morning. The southpaw scored 62 runs off 39 balls at a run-rate of 9.54 today and ensured that England take too many overs to scale the 300-run-mark, even as the West Indians-led by their captain Jason Holder employed what many called delay tactics with regards to their usage of the DRS.

Stokes finished at an unbeaten 78 off 57 deliveries as England plundered 92 runs in 11 overs before eventually calling curtains on the innings.

England’s Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes leave Windies top-order in tatters before Jermaine Blackwood and Shamarh Brooks consolidated for the West Indies

Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes picked up exactly from where they had left in the first innings as they cleaned up the West Indian top-order, reducing them to 3-25 at the stroke of Lunch.

Broad proved why he is such an irresistible force on English soil. The right-hander consistently bowled it on a fullish length before bringing in one back in to either bamboozle the stumps or pin the batsman in front of the wickets.

While Shai Hope suffered the former, Roston Chase endured the latter when he was pinned in front of the wickets with a nip-backer.

Jermaine Blackwood launched a calculated counter-attack on the English bowlers and he was ably supported by Shamarh Brooks, who played some gorgeous strokes en-route to his half-century.

England missed an opportunity to remove Brooks when he appeared to have edged a Chris Woakes delivery straight to Jos Buttler but Joe Root decided against the review.

Blackwood stroked an 88-ball 55, stitching a 100-run-stand with Brooks before Ben Stokes once again proved to be the partnership-breaker for England when he bounced out Blackwood at the stroke of Tea as Jos Buttler completed a brilliant diving catch.
