Essex vs India 2018, Day 3, Lunch: Essex Bat On, Paul Walter Dismissed for 75

It was an impressive batting performance by the visiting India team which saw them post a competitive 395 on the board in their only three-day practice game against Essex.
It was a great batting performance by skipper Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik. The four of them scored fluent half-centuries to take India to a decent total.
Rishabh Pant batted at the number tenth and smashed his way to 34 off just 26 deliveries. They would have hoped to go past the 400-mark. However, in the end, they fell short by five runs.
Umesh Yadav started off well by removing Nick Browne in quick time. Ishant Sharma then removed Prashant Chopra to reduce the hosts to 45/2. Tom Westley and Michael Kyle Pepper scored fluent half-centuries to get Essex back on track.
They struck some exceptional shots to get going. Kyle Pepper scored 68 while Westley chipped in with 57.

It was a great partnership between the duo. The Pacers kept on their good work and bagged three wickets in quick succession. Essex was reduced to 187/5 when the wicket of Rishi Patel fell.
It was James Foster and Paul Walter who took Essex to the end of the 2nd day’s play on 237/5. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 42 before being castled by Umesh Yadav in the morning session of the 3rd day.
Paul Walter was the top scorer for Essex. He struck some exceptional shots and completed his batting performance to perfection. His innings of 75 came in just 113 deliveries which studded with 13 fours and a six. Eventually, they went to lunch with the score reading 345/8. Aron Nijjar is batting on 21 while Feroze Khusi is unbeaten on nine.
The visitors would look to finish off the innings as quickly as possible. It would also give them some time to have some practice out in the middle before the 1st Test starting begins on 1st August.
