What an incredible year it has been for Rohit Sharma? The flamboyant batsman had garnered runs like no other batsman to make things fall in place for India across the formats. As a fitting farewell, he ended the calendar year with the man of the series award for his Daddy century in the second ODI and a fine half-century in the final ODI.

Rohit Sharma finished as the highest run-scorer of the series with 261 runs in the three games against the West Indies. Though he started poorly in Chennai, he made the most of the opportunity in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam. A 63-run knock followed it in the final ODI of the series.

Speaking of the series victory, he showered words of praise on KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, who soaked in the pressure to help India seal the series. He also gave a special mention to Shardul Thakur’s cameo in the end, which helped India seal the win without breaking a sweat in the end overs.

”It was a decider, and we wanted to win this game, and especially here in Cuttack, it’s a good batting track. It was a little sad that I couldn’t bat longer, but then Rahul and Kohli batted well, and I quite enjoyed that Shardul pull-shot, it was much needed at that point. Extremely grateful for the year I had, the World Cup win would have been nice. The team gelled together collectively well, and every individual stepped up which is a good sign,” Rohit Sharma said.

There is no way I am stopping –

Further, Rohit Sharma stated that he would like to carry on the same form in the upcoming season as well. He wants to win the series away from the country in the forthcoming calendar year. The vice-captain also showered words of praise on the team for gelling well together under pressure.

I understand my batting well and knowing the game plan you want to execute is very, very important. The challenge will come once we start travelling, we want to win games and want to stay on top,” he said in the post-match presentation.

All in all, Rohit Sharma had a sensational year under his belt to cherish for a long time. The flamboyant batsman broke quite a few records to his name during the course of this beautiful season.
