Fans Sense Foul Play As They Target Virat Kohli After Rohit Sharma's Omission From India Squads For Australia Tour
Updated - 27 Oct 2020, 08:12 PM
The lack of transparency over Rohit Sharma’s injury which has led to his omission from India’s squads for the upcoming tour of Australia has raised a number of eyebrows. On Monday, the BCCI announced the ODI, T20I and Test squads for the tour and Rohit Sharma was not named in any one of them.
While releasing the squads, the BCCI stated that its medical team would continue to monitor Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. Rohit Sharma is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that he had sustained during the clash against Kings XI Punjab on October 18.
Last week, Mumbai Indians in a statement gave an update on the injury and stated that their skipper is recovering well while hinting that he is close to returning to action. Thus, BCCI’s decision of leaving him out of the squads surprised many. And Mumbai Indians didn’t take long to further add to the confusion.
Just moments after the BCCI announced the squad, the defending IPL champions announced on their social media pages that Rohit Sharma was back training again, leaving everyone utterly surprised. Following their announcement, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar also called for transparency about Rohit’s injury.
Fans sense foul play:
With little clarity over Rohit Sharma’s injury and his omission from the India squads, the fans took to social media to express their surprise over the same. Not only that, they have also targeted Virat Kohli, saying that the India skipper was responsible for Rohit Sharma’s omission.
The fans once again talked about the alleged rift between Rohit and Kohli that surfaced last year while stating that not all is well between the two superstars. Some went even as far as calling Kohli selfish while saying that the rift is the reason behind Rohit’s omission.
Here are some of the reactions:
Indian selectors don’t name @ImRo45 in any of the 3 formats for a tour ending mid January (the release says @BCCI medical team will monitor his progress). And the same evening @mipaltan upload pictures of him practising. What’s the catch here?

Definite politics from Virat Kohli . By Selecting Kl Rahul a VICE CAPTAIN in T20 and ODIs he is trying to send a message to Rohit Sharma now. WoW! WoW! WoW! Virat Kohli will never change. NEVER.

The most selfish cricketer is @imVkohli
He knows rohit sharma has the potential to lead the Indian team better than by him
But his ego won’t allow him to play under rohit sharma @imVkohli @ImRo45

If Rohit sharma return’s tomorrow for @mipaltan ..
And plays against @RCBTweets ..
Than there is something very very fishy in Indian cricket..
And letting @ImRo45 out will become the biggest mistake of @imVkohli.
Becoz this is not good for the future of @BCCI @SGanguly99— Ikchheshu??Upadhyay (@ik_raj_phoenix) October 27, 2020

2 minutes of silence for those who thinks Rohit Sharma is out becos of injury. Karma will hunt down @imVkohli and it will hunt so bad he will regret all the bad things he is doing now. #Hitman

Virat’s insecurity with Rohit ??♂️
I’m 100% sure Rohit is not that much unfit that he won’t be able to fully recover before Aus tour. This is just bad politics in Indian cricket. Surya Kumar Yadav is still not selected either ??♂️

I don’t think that rohit sharma’s place not in the Australia tour is an injured issue it’s full of politics. The main leader in this politics is @RaviShastriOfc and @imVkohli . https://t.co/hZMiJ72Z6q
