Five Bangladesh Players to Watch Out in the Nidahas Trophy

Bangladesh has begun their preparation for the upcoming Nidahas Trophy to be played in Sri Lanka scheduled to begin from 6th March in Colombo. Bangladesh are coming off a complete whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka at their home.

Bangladesh announced their squad for the Nidahas Trophy and Shakib Al Hasan will captain the team in the Tri-Series. Bangladesh will be joined by India and the host Sri Lanka in a T20I Tri-Series which begins on March 6 in Colombo.
Shakib who is still recovering from a finger injury was picked by the selectors but is still doubtful for the entire series.
Shakib and two other players have made their return to the squad. Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasanhave also returned to the squad for Bangladesh.
However five other players, who were part of the T20Is against Sri Lanka, missed out. Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin are the ones to miss out.
Bangladesh will be looking forward to get back to winning ways in the upcoming series and they would want these five players to perform in the tri-series.

Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal is one of Bangladesh’s most reliable and consistent opening batsmen in the last one decade. Iqbal has played 60 T20I’s for Bangladesh and has scored 1286 runs at an average of 23.38. Iqbal has dominated the Indian and Sri Lankan bowling attacks on numerous occasions and the management will be relying upon his batting skills in the Nidahas Trophy.
Shakib Al Hasan
The returning Shakib Al Hasan will be looking forward to make an influential return to international cricket. Shakib has been recalled to the side after he was ruled out from the series against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury. Shakib is one of the most experienced player in the Bangladeshi side and has exposed the oppositions with both bat and ball on numerous occasion. Shakib has played 61 T20I’s scoring 1223 runs and has picked up 71 wickets.
Mahmudullah

Mahmudullah has been one of the most consistent middle order batsmen in the Bangladesh team. Mahmudullah led Bangladesh in the recently concluded series against Sri Lanka at home and played an important role in the middle order.
Mushfiqur Rahim

Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim along with Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the most influential players in the Bangladeshi dressing room. Rahim’s exploit with both bat and gloves have been important for the team. His experience has been vital for the team. Rahim has played well against both India and Sri Lanka especially in the sub-continent in the past.
Mustafizur Rahman

Muztafizur Rahman a.k.a the ‘Fizz’ has an impressive start to his international cricket especially with the white ball. Despite being out of action for most part of his early days, Rahman has been consistent in picking up wickets. Rahman averages less than 20 in both ODI’s and T20I’s. It will be easy for Rahman to adjust with the T20 format as he is currently for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL.
