And by doing that, Rohit Sharma smashed 27 centuries and over 7000 out of his total 9115 ODI runs.

Rohit also built his reputation as a batsman with incredible six-hitting abilities. His six off a pull shot to dispatch over the mid-wicket boundary is one of the sights to behold for any cricket-lover. Yet, since Rohit Sharma’s debut in 2007, several batsmen also boast of similar skills.
We take a look at five players with the most number of maximums since Rohit Sharma’s first international appearance:
Martin Guptill – 318
New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is undeniably one of the cleanest strikers of the ball. Having cemented his place in the limited-overs side, Guptill has formed a potent opening combination with Henry Nicholls and Colin Munro in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
The right-handed batsman is also one of the best fielders going around currently. He put the same in display during the 2019 World Cup, having affected crucial run-outs and taking jaw-dropping catches. The 33-year old has 318 international sixes and his score of 237 in ODIs is the second-highest in the format.
Eoin Morgan – 319
English limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan occupies the fourth position on this list with 319 maximums to his name. Not only he is one of the greatest captains today, but Morgan is also one of the most reliable middle-order batsmen.
Having played for Ireland before, the southpaw is the only batsman to muster centuries for two nations. Eoin Morgan holds the record for hitting the highest number of sixes in a single ODI when he clobbered 17 of them against Afghanistan in 2019. At 33, he still has some years ahead of him to go up the ladder and reach close to Rohit Sharma.
Brendon McCullum – 342
Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum was one of the hard-hitting batsmen, capable of striking it big across formats at will. McCullum also oversaw one of the prosperous periods of Black Caps, having guided them to their first World Cup final in 2015.
The right-handed batsman has hit 342 sixes and holds the record for the fastest Test hundred, scored off 54 deliveries. The same came against Australia in Christchurch in 2016. Brendon McCullum also boasts of the highest number of sixes in Test career, having struck 107 in 101 fixtures and is one of the two batsmen to complete a century of sixes.
Chris Gayle – 413
The Universe Boss Chris Gayle sits comfortably in the second position, having struck 413 sixes in his international career. The southpaw is one of the most lethal strikers of the ball with his mishit shots also clearing the boundary comfortably.
The Jamaican opening batsman is also considered as one of the most destructive batsmen in T20I cricket. In the shortest format alone, the 40-year old has 105 maximums while ODIs produced 331 and Gayle is two shy of completing a century of sixes in Tests.
Rohit Sharma – 423
Rohit Sharma’s number of sixes is ten more than that of Chris Gayle with 423 to his name. In ODIs and T20Is, the 33-year old operates at a strike rate of 88.92 and 138.78, making him one of the most brutal strikers. The Mumbai batsman is also a custodian of several T20I records.
With four centuries, he is the highest century-maker. The right-handed batsman is the second-highest run-getter in the format while mustering the highest number of sixes with 127. Additionally, Rohit has the fastest century in the version when he smashed off 35 deliveries.
