UPCA confirmed the appointment of Sunil Joshi as their head coach. He will take over the charge from September 20 ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting from September 24. Meanwhile, the UPCA has not yet decided on the captaincy.

“We have appointed Sunl Joshi as coach of our team for one year. He will join the camp before the Vijay Hazare trophy,” Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) Secretary Yudhvir Singh told PTI-Bhasha.

Sunil Joshi had earlier applied for the post of India’s bowling coach. However, he lost the race as the selectors decided to give incumbent coach Bharat Arun another term considering his excellent work with the side in the last three years. It will be a challenge for Joshi to lead Uttar Pradesh to any of the domestic titles this year.
