Umar Akmal Reveals A Major Difference Between Him And Virat Kohli

Umar Akmal is no stranger to making strange comments which only draws ire of the public. The right-handed batsman was at it again, as he compares himself to Virat Kohli. And also, reveals a major difference between him and Virat Kohli. As ever, he came up with a shocking claim, which made the difference.

The right-hander does have a history of making a statement about his batting position when asked about the difference. Last year during the World T20s he approached former Pakistan captain Imran Khan and complained to him about the team management and that he deserved to bat higher up in the order.

I was not given support – Umar Akmal

Eventually, the team management slammed and kept him away from the selection for quite a few days. Even his own brother, Kamran Akmal said that it was wrong to compare Umar Akmal with Virat Kohli, despite both of them making their international debut around the same time.

However, speaking of the same, Umar Akmal quoted that board politics has been the major point, which didn’t work for him. He believes that the Indian board helped Virat Kohli to yield success for his country while claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board has never given him enough support to strive for the success.

“His [Kohli’s] cricket board gave him a lot of support. They guided him and continue to guide him even now,” he told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “I am not saying that I was not given support. But you know very well who the cricket board backs and doesn’t back. I would request the cricket board to support its players. If you invest in a player, then don’t drop him before big tournaments.”

“I did not get to represent Pakistan a lot despite brilliant performances but hopefully there will be an improvement in the situation under the new management,” he added to his lines.

Well, it would be interesting to see whether the Pakistan Cricket Board would consider his statements and give him a go in the future series. For now, he is available to play across the formats for Pakistan. After the world cup 2019, Pakistan has revamped its cricketing culture.
