Octagenarian Alan Oakman, the former Sussex all-rounder, passed away on Thursday (September 6). He was the chief run-scorer for English County Club Sussex during his heydays. Oakman amassed over 20000 runs under his belt in the county circuit.
The flamboyant all-rounder has been a class apart who dealt with the game in a gentlemen way. He was later appointed as the head coach of the team and concluded his career after serving as an administrator for Warwickshire county.
Alan Oakman scored 21,800 first-class runs and claimed 736 wickets:
Though he played only for a brief period of time in the International cricket, he was a stalwart player in the County Cricket. He finished with as many as 21,800 runs for his side and bagged 736 wickets as well.

Oakman was the off-spinning all-rounder who used to be the deceptive bowler.
Meanwhile, He was also the part of the historic match when Jim Laker bagged 19 wickets in the single game with a 10-for and a 9-for.
Oakman, who was the close-in fielder during the match grabbed as many as five catches to his name.
