Cricket is more-like a religion in India, and because of the immense popularity of this sport, cricketers are often treated as celebrities. The gentleman’s game allows players not only to earn money but also, to become a global icon as well.

Once, a player becomes a regular feature in the Indian Cricket Team, he becomes popular overnight. Fans start to take notice of his every action, every move, both on and off the field.

And we’re not talking about just the cricket fans, but female fans as well, who adore Indian cricketers a lot.

Sometimes, cricketers themselves take note of their fans and become close to them.

Today, we’ll take a look at four Indian cricketers who fell in love with their fans and eventually got married to them:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni:

One of the biggest celebrities of Indian cricket, there are perhaps very few people in India who would not recognise MS Dhoni. Due to his immense hard work, Dhoni has amassed a lot of die-hard fans in his career.

Fondly known as ‘captain cool’, the former Indian skipper has a shy nature and he is known to maintain distance from the limelight. But that is not so easy, particularly if you are the captain of Team India.

Talking about his wife, Sakshi was a big fan of MS Dhoni, and the duo got married to each other on 4th July 2010, in Dehradun.

Soon they had a daughter together, Ziva Dhoni, who is now the darling of the whole nation.

Rohit Sharma:

Well renowned for his aggressive batting style, Rohit Sharma too, found love in one of his fans. Vice-captain of the current Indian team, Rohit always has the support of his wife Ritika Sajdeh. She is often seen gracing the stands, supporting her husband for both international matches and Indian Premier League games too.

Ritika was a big fan of Rohit and his manager too. With time, they got closer and ultimately love bloomed. The duo got married to each other on 13 December 2015.

When Ritika turns out to support Rohit, he too responds by putting up a good show. The 32-year-old made his second anniversary for his wife all the more special by scoring a double-century. On another occasion, Rohit scored a 35-ball ton in T20I, just one day before Ritika’s birthday.

Sachin Tendulkar:

Arguably one of the most legendary players ever to grace the game of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar too, fell in love with one of his fans, namely, Anjali Tendulkar.

Even though Anjali was six years older than Sachin, the ‘little master’ decided to get hitched with her.

The only player ever to hit 100 centuries in the world, Sachin has millions of fans in India even till date, despite his retirement, one of which was Anjali. She is a doctor by profession.

On 24th May 1995, Sachin got married to Anjali and the couple has two kids, namely Arjun and Sara Tendulkar. Arjun is following his father’s footsteps while seeking to pursue a career in cricket itself.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi:

One of the youngest captain-ever to lead Team India, Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi too, features on this list, as he got married to one of his fans, Sharmila Tagore. She was a renowned actress and was at the peak of her career when she got married to Mansoor Ali Khan.

Father of the actor Saif Ali Khan, Mansoor married Sharmila in 1969. She was an ardent fan of the then Indian cricket team captain, and it is also said that Sharmila used to go stadiums to get a glimpse of him, and they fell in love.
