Gautam Gambhir Wants to Give Space to the Present Team on World T20 Anniversary

India’s southpaw batsman Gautam Gambhir wants to give space to the present Indian team on the anniversary of World T20 anniversary. The Men in Blue had won the inaugural edition of the World T20 on this day, 11 years ago. Gautam Gambhir had played a great knock of 75 runs off just 54 balls in the final of World T20. In fact, Gambhir was the Man of the final as he had also scored a majestic knock of 97 runs in the final of the World Cup in 2011.

Meanwhile, Gambhir wants to give space to the current team who has been in the superb form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. Men in Blue have confirmed their berth in the final of the tournament.

Gautam Gambhir is the Man of the Finals.

On the other hand, India had gone on to win the first World T20. Gambhir had played a key role as he scored eight boundaries and two maximums in his knock in the final. Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan was the star of the show in the final as he scalped three wickets and gave away only 16 runs in his four overs quota.

Gautam Gambhir was the second highest run-scorer in the tourney as he amassed 227 runs in six innings. The southpaw batsman went on to score three fifties in the multi-nation tournament.

Meanwhile, there were other memorable moments for India in the World T20. Yuvraj Singh was also in fine form in the  World T20. The southpaw batsman had scored six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad. Furthermore, the left-hander had also scored a match-winning knock of 70 runs off just 30 balls against Australia.

Gautam Gambhir took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts. Gambhir post read as, “While I am proud of the yesterday of 2007 (on left) but the fact is it was 11 years ago. I’d like to create more space for guys who are doing a fantastic job today (on the right), the class of 2018 @BCCI”.
