The swashbuckling all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis might end on the wrong side of things as far as the selection for the upcoming tour to India is considered. The selection panel might consider the likes of Marnus Labuschagne and the few other youngsters, who have been delivering the goods regularly for the team.

Glenn Maxwell recently took an indefinite break from International Cricket during the series against Sri Lanka. However, he will set to return for the upcoming Big Bash League season. On the other hand, Marcus Stoinis has issues with his form. A sudden dip in his form might see him stay away from the Indian tour.

Marnus Labuschagne might get the nod:

As per the reports on Sydney Morning Herald, the selectors have been strongly considering Marnus Labuschagne as a potential one-day international player as they begin long-range plans for the 2023 World Cup to be staged in India. Even the likes of David Warner and the ex-coach Darren Lehmann felt Marnus Labuschagne is a three-format player.

David Warner stated that Labuschagne got the goods to deliver for Australia across the formats. He believes the youngster will make the most of the opportunity if he gets the nod in the limited-overs format. Similarly, Darren Lehmann also expressed his belief in Marnus Labuschagne, who destined to do great works for the team on the international stage.

“That’s the energy and excitement he brings to the game – he’s a fast scorer, and I think his white-ball game is going to come into it as well. I think he’s definitely a three-format player,” veteran opener David Warner said on cricket.com.au last month.

”There’s no reason he can’t play one-day cricket and T20 cricket for Australia,” Lehmann, who is coaching Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League, said. So for (the Heat), it’s a question of how much we see him – it depends if (the national selectors) start looking at playing him in the one-dayers because his one-day record for Queensland this year is exceptional.”
