Gujarat Titans’ chase was first shouldered by Wriddhiman Saha who made 68 in 38 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. However, then Kane Williamson unleashed Umran Malik on the GT batters and he finished with figures of 5/25, his maiden five-wicket haul in the Indian Premier League, and took all the five GT wickets to fall.

Rahul Tewatia And Rashid Khan Take Gujarat Titans Past The Finish Line

47 runs were needed off the last 18 balls when Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan warmed up. But good bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan meant that Marco Jansen had to defend 22 runs in the final over.

However, Rahul Tewatia hit Jansen for a six off the first ball, and then Rashid Khan finished the job by hitting him for three sixes as well. The first was hit right back over Jansen’s head, the second was hit over the point off a wide yorker and the match was won when Rashid hit a short ball from Jansen over Natarajan’s desperate leap on the boundary at fine leg.

With this win, GT went to the top of the IPL 2022 points table, while SRH remain at no.3.
