Veteran Indian cricket team cricketer, Harbhajan Singh congratulated legendary women’s cricketer Mithali Raj for becoming the first Indian cricketer to go past 2000-run tally in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I).
Meanwhile, Mithali is the first Indian to achieve this feat irrespective of men and women’s to complete this record.
Mithali achieved the landmark with a single off Oshadi Ranasinghe during her knock of 23 against Sri Lanka.
In addition, India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets to come back to winning ways.
Batting first, Lanka managed to score 107 runs at the end of their 20 overs. Hasini Perera’s unbeaten 46 guided Lanka to the 100-run mark.
Indian bowlers did an incredible job to keep things tight for the opponents.
In reply, however, it was a cakewalk for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side. The top-order contributed significantly as India crossed the line with seven balls to spare.
Veda Krishnamurthy topped the scoring chart with an unbeaten 29 off 23 balls.
As a result, India claims the top spot with three wins from four games and is likely to book a place in the finals.
Harbhajan Singh lauds Mithali:
Mithali is the seventh woman to reach 2,000-runs, a list which is being headed by Charlotte Edwards (2,605), followed by Stafanie Taylor (2,582) and Suzie Bates (2,515).
