Veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh will miss the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp which gets underway in Chennai from Saturday. The CSK franchise were granted permission to conduct training in the city by the Tamil Nadu government ahead of their departure for the IPL 2020 in UAE.
MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Karan Sharma, Piyush Chawla are among the players who have already arrived in the Chennai for the training camp. India fast bowler Shardul Thakur is also expected to miss the training at home before their departure, which will take place after August 20.
Speaking about the development to The Times of India, a sources in the know of things said, “Harbhajan and Thakur had a few personal commitments and we understand that. However, they have already started training on their own. So we aren’t worried about them missing our camp. They’re expected to join the camp on August 19”.
Harbhajan Singh has aged like a fine wine. Once the flag-bearer of Indian spin bowling, the veteran is still eyeing to make a return for the national team, after having played his last international match in 2016. Away from the international circuit, Harbhajan Singh has plied his trade for two most successful teams in the IPL – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) – and continues to be a regular in the lucrative tournament.
Singh, 39, has picked up 417 Test wickets and 269 in ODIs for India.
